What these guides are for

Train Sim World 7 is Dovetail Games’ 2026 train simulator for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It is not coming to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Deluxe and Ultimate early access began 10 September 2026 at 16:00 BST on consoles and 18:00 BST on PC. Full launch is 15 September 2026.

This hub is the procedure layer of the wiki. Open it when you need a next action. For maps and stations, start at the routes hub. For cabs and wagons, use the trains hub. For SKUs and hardware, use the tools hub. For dates, use the launch page and the roadmap.

First hour, in order

  1. Confirm the edition you actually own on the editions comparison. Free Starter is the Training Center only. Standard includes the three core routes. Deluxe adds the Northern Class 333, DB BR 412 ICE 4, and Tri-Rail GP49H-3 plus five-day early access. Ultimate adds selected Train Sim World 6 Deluxe routes: Riviera Line, Class 220, Leipzig–Dresden, Nahverkehr Dresden, BR 294, Morristown Line, and NJ Transit ALP-45DP.
  2. Install in the right order with how to download Train Sim World 7. Standard is five items: Free Starter plus four route add-ons. The game can open after Starter, but the menu stays empty until the rest finishes. Close the client and wait.
  3. Follow getting started: profile, difficulty, Training Center, then one timetable service.
  4. Leave beginner controls on until cab setup is no longer the thing that stops you. The toggle lives under Settings > Controls. At launch it works in Timetable and Free Roam only.
  5. After a few passenger diagrams, open Freight Hauler on a core route and move wagons without a scripted briefing.

Core routes these pages assume

Standard play sits on three new networks. Airedale & Wharfedale is the Yorkshire commuter web with the Northern Class 331, LNER 801, Class 66, and HYA limestone hoppers; Deluxe layers the Class 333. Florida Tri-Rail runs Miami Airport to Boca Raton with the BL36PH, F40PH-3C, Rotem cars, CSX SD40-2, GP38-2, and Dura-Max hoppers; Deluxe layers the GP49H-3. Bahnstrecke Nürnberg–Würzburg mixes BR 440, BR 442, ICE 1 BR 401, and Vectron BR 193; Deluxe layers ICE 4 BR 412. Included traction is listed on standard locomotives; the extra cabs sit on deluxe locomotives.

Pick geography by the skill you want. Yorkshire teaches doors, stops, and a busy metro. Florida teaches diesel heat, CSX switching, and long passenger cars. Bavaria teaches speed, PZB discipline, and mixed ICE versus S-Bahn traffic. The Tadami Line is a later add-on, not a launch substitute; watch it on the roadmap instead of waiting for it before you drive.

Modes, add-ons, and PC extras

The game modes guide explains Training Center, Journey, Timetable, Conductor, Scenario, Free Roam, and Freight Hauler so you stop guessing which menu tile to pick. Compatible content covers the Train Sim World 7 download of older add-ons: Steam can use that library during early access; consoles wait for full launch. Freight Hauler itself stays on TSW7 core routes at launch even if you own a huge back catalogue.

On PC the stack is SimuGraph vehicle dynamics inside Unreal Engine 4, with DirectX 12 as the default. Check system requirements before you chase the Epic preset, then use graphics settings for DLSS 4.5, FSR 4, and draw distance. Steam Cloud is supported. Dovetail hoped for Steam Deck verification; treat handheld play as a bonus, not the design target. Keyboard, PlayStation, and Xbox bindings for both beginner and immersive cabs are on the controls reference.

Live Weather needs a Dovetail Live login. Freight Hauler does not. Creators Club sharing also wants Live. You can skip the account on first boot and still finish the Training Center and a timetable run. Handheld notes sit on the Steam Deck page. Deluxe extras have their own cab pages: ICE 4, Class 333, and GP49H-3.

How to use the rest of this hub

Open one guide, finish the job it describes, then follow the sibling links rather than bouncing through the home page. Getting started is the onboarding spine. Download, simplified controls, and Freight Hauler are the three pages people search after they already own the game. Game modes and compatible content are the pages you need once the first route feels small.

If you only have an evening on Deluxe early access, do not try to master ICE 4, CSX yards, and Yorkshire diagrams in one sitting. Install, train, then pick one geography. Come back tomorrow and jump straight to the procedure you stalled on. That is what these pages are for: a clean next action, not a second trailer.

If you bought Deluxe only for ICE 4, still finish one Class 331 stopping service before you open the long German set. Speed without a door drill is how people bounce off the sim on night one.
